Work matters
30.03.2005, 9:28 p.m.

It seems that I shall not be getting paid this week. Because of the Easter holidays I had to send my time sheet in early, it had to be authorised early and then it had to be sent ot my temping agency early. I sent it in on time, but the people at work didn't authorise it until yesterday and now I'm not getting paid until next week.

I was sent an email at work today by the person I'm working for. There's a position open in another department but same location for an assistant to help with things that I've been doing for the past two months. It's a year long contract for more money than I've ever had before. I said I didn't really want to work here full time, but then do I want to get another temporary job in a new place and start from scracth again.

My options are:

1) Apply for the full time position where I'm already working.
2) Continue temping until I find a permanent position.
3) Quit temping and just wait until I get a permanent position.

I just don't know what to think or do about my employment problems now.

This new job is paying well and I already have a bit of experience within the area. Parking is good here whereas other areas are hell to ark in.

Temping is good money though and I have a little more flexibility. If I want a week off between jobs, although unpaid the money I am earning more than makes up for it. Also I'll get to experience different environments, software packages, and types of work.

My money won't last forever if I just give up temping and wait for a job to come along. So Option 3 is a no-no.

Family and Mark think I should try for the job and I probably will.

I only have tomorrow to talk to the person at work about it and the deadline for applications for the job is 5th April. So, right now I really need to make a decision.

Cross you fingers I make the right choice.
