You told me so The first day wasn't too bad in the end. I arrived a little earlier than expected but wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be. Most of the morning was spent having my computer sorted out with a log in and having a meeting with one of the directors and being told a little more what they do and was shown a slide show with demonstartions. I found it interesting, although others probably didn't. But how the company pairs suspects with the evidence from CCTV cameras is good. They've also dealt with a lot of criminal cases shown on the tv, like people being abducted and raped. Obviously can't mention them, coz I'm a good girl and can't break the Secrets Act I signed. I came home for lunch, which I didn't think I'd be able to do. Originally I was told I'd have a 30 minute lunchbreak with a 15 minute break in the morning and afternoon. Today I was told if I didn't mind not having them, which I don't, I could have up to an hour for lunch. So I did that. It's a nice change of scenery and lets you get away from things. Something I couldn't do in the old office. This afternoon I was given a little talk and shown a little about what I'll be doing tomorrow. I'll be booking on evidence and giving the items job numbers for the staff to use. I'm being eased into it gradually, mostly because they have time to show me the things slowly and partly because it's police work everything needs to be done just so. The women were quite nice in the end, but I was right and they mentioned the menopause within the first two hours of my being there. I had to pinch myself to stop me bursting out laughing. I just knew they would talk about it. I even managed to talk to the receptionist who I think I'll work quite a bit with and she seemed fine today. So I hate to admit it to all those that said it would be fine, but you were right. I was getting worked up far too much about. I just get so nervous and start thinking the worst. Fingers crossed tomorrow will be as good as today. |
